BAS welcomes the appointment of a new President of the Society.

BAS sadly lost Sir Bernard Lovell as President when he passed away earlier this year. However we are delighted by the news that the current President of the Royal Astronomical Society, Professor David Southwood has accepted nomination and subsequent election as our new President.

70th Anniversary Dinner.

The society held a dinner on February 1st 1013 at the old Bristolians Rugby Club to mark its 70th anniversary

Latest News

The latest issue of Eclipse, Issue 51, March 2013 is now available from the Eclipse page.

The June 2013 issue of BASIL is now available from the BASIL page.

Bristol Astronomical Society now has its own Facebook Page and Twitter account check it out for the lastest society and astronomical news.

Check out the updated Library Page, we have now added a form to allow you to reserve any book, video, CD or DVD. An email will be sent to the Librarian who will hold the item for you.

 

Solar Viewing and Star Gazing at Tyntesfield

The society will be running a number of Solar Viewing and Star Gazing events at the National Trust Tyntesfield for visitors to the property.

Star Gazing

Following a number of successful evenings during the winter we will be running more star gazing events in the Autumn.

Solar Viewing

We plan to run Solar Observing sessions for visitors to the Tyntesfield Estate one Sunday each month during the summer, weather permitting.
