We held our final Tyntesfield Star Party last night, and what a spectacular night it turned out to be! We had over 70 members of the public registered and around 10 telescopes, ranging from 4" to 12", and binoculars and guided sky tours. The sky was clear towards all directions and around 8.30pm we started to see the unmistakeable constellation of Orion rising in the SE.

The first sight of Orion of the year is a sure sign that winter is here - and yes - everyone attending could confirm that! We also had great views of the Andromeda galaxy, the Ring Nebula, Uranus, Neptune and the final views of Mars for this year. Thanks to all of the NT Tyntesfield staff, Allan McCarthy for organising it, to all the BAS members whom braved the cold, and to all the members of the public that visited us for very memorable evening. Watch this space for more Star Parties in the new year.
